Hello,
The OpenSAF foundation is pleased to announce the completion of OpenSAF 3.0 Beta 4.
OpenSAF 3.0 Beta 4 introduced the following key features:
- SA Forum AIS Information Model Management Service (IMM) A.02.01
- SA Forum AIS Notification Service (NTF) A.01.01
- LOG service IMM Object Implementer (OI)
- IMM shell commands
The completion of this Beta means the above features have been tested and all known critical defects have been resolved. In addition, the completion of Beta-4 also marks the "Functional Complete" milestone for Release 3. The Functional Complete archive can be found at:
http://devel.opensaf.org/hg/opensaf/archive/3.0.FC.tar.gz
The next phase of the project, known as the "Release Candidate 1 (RC1)" cycle, is focused on decreasing the back-log of Release 3 defects and creating the first OpenSAF R3 release candidate archive.
A new report has been created that lists all known Release 3 defect tickets (enhancements are excluded). That report is called "Release 3 defect tickets" ( https://devel.opensaf.org/report/26).
As of today, there are 32 defect tickets that have a priority of blocker, critical, or major. I would like to release RC1 when all of those tickets have been resolved. I would propose May 1st as a target for having all the blocker, critical and major tickets resolved. This would also be the date when the RC1 archive would be made available.
I would like to encourage everyone to please review the list of open defect tickets and begin working on closing as many as possible. Please refer to the "OpenSAF Developer's Handbook" ( https://devel.opensaf.org/wiki/Handbook) for information on the process of contributing patches to OpenSAF.

Thank You, Steve Constant
