The OpenSAF Community
The OpenSAF Foundation and the global OpenSAF community welcome and encourage participation by everyone. Our community is composed of enthusiasts from the field of highly available software and services. We are always looking for new contributors with interest in developing and testing open source software.
To get you started, we've put together a list of resources:
Mailing Lists
Here's an overview of the mail resources for OpenSAF. A complete listing of opensaf.org public mailing lists is also available.
To request a new list, send e-mail to opensaf-sysadmin @ free.linux.hp.com; please check first to make sure a similar list does not already exist.
users
users is an open (not moderated) mailing list for general discussions and questions about OpenSAF. Pretty much anything OpenSAF-related is fair game for discussion. Anyone can subscribe and review the archive here.
announce
announce is a low-volume moderated forum for OpenSAF-related announcements. You'll also see announcements for conferences. It's an easy way to be keep up-to-date on what's new in the OpenSAF world.
It is available as a read-only mailing list, announce. Subscribing can be done via the list information page.
devel
Note: devel is for work on developing OpenSAF (fixing bugs and adding new features to OpenSAF itself); if you're having problems writing an OpenSAF program, please post to users@….
devel is the heart of OpenSAF's development. Practically everyone with Mercurial write privileges is on devel, and first drafts of high level design (HLD) are often posted here for initial review and rewriting before their more public appearance.
Anyone can subscribe to devel, and the archives are public.
There's also the commit and buildbot status for various branches:
- The Mercurial staging-commits archives
- The Buildbot archives
Internet Relay Chat
The OpenSAF channel is available by using the Internet Relay Chat server irc.oftc.net.
For short questions, you can get immediate help by visiting the #osaf channel.
IRC clients for many platforms can be found in the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) Help Archive.
OFTC is a member project of Software in the Public Interest, a non-profit organization which was founded to help organizations develop and distribute open hardware and software.
